I traveled alone with my son and, unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was far from what we had hoped for.||From the moment we arrived, the service was disappointing. We requested an extra sheet as the bed was only made with a double sheet, but the owner refused to provide one until the next day, claiming he had no access to storage. Even when we suggested taking one from a vacant room, this was denied. The next day we finally received an old, torn sheet.||On the second day, our room door was suddenly opened without warning by two men who didn’t speak English and couldn’t explain how they had access. They turned out to be staff sent to repair the landline. I have never experienced hotel staff entering a room without knocking or prior arrangement—this felt both intrusive and unsafe.||Housekeeping on day three forgot to replace towels and left us with none. We requested new, and were given towels worn out and falling apart. ||Our room (104) was located right next to a generator running 24/7, despite the hotel claiming soundproof rooms—this was definitely not the case.||The pool area was nicely designed, but the hydromassage didn’t work. ||The minibar was empty on arrival and never refilled. ||I had contacted the hotel before booking to ask if the area was suitable for travelers without a car, and I was seriously misled—without a car, this location is extremely inconvenient. A round-trip taxi to Tropea costs €50.||We were supposed to stay for a week but decided to leave after just four days. The owner showed no concern when we checked out early and insisted on full payment.||Other important details:||- Breakfast is very basic—more like a simple B&B.|- The pool are also 300 meters from the hotel and closed daily from 12:30 to 15:00. Yet the pool was often dirty, with sand, cigarette butts, and plastic bottles left behind.|- The restaurant serves overpriced, mediocre food with a very limited menu, mostly seafood.|- The beach is not suitable for small children as the sea gets deep just two meters from shore.||Although the staff seemed well-intentioned and work hard, the lack of service, comfort, and quality means I cannot recommend this hotel—especially not for families or travelers expecting a true 4-star experience.

Nice family hotel with parking lot and beautiful view over the sea. Kind personnel always ready to answer and advise. Nice beach with romantic restaurant and bar.

The hotel is conveniently situated half way between Tropea and Pizzo which are both beautiful towns to visit. The staff are charming and very helpful. The rooms are clean and have nice balconies with a view of the sea. The pool was absolutely wonderful- very clean and surrounded by beautiful planting. |I would have given a full 5/5 except for the wi-fi

First, the staff are fabulous here. Very helpful and responsive. It is also a lovely base to visit Tropea from. The outdoor space was also very lovely but bring mosquito spray. They’re out and about with the greenery here. |Secondly, I felt like this was false advertising at its finest. The waves were way too dangerous for our 4 and 6 year old to play in so we couldn't relax at the beach (maybe this was abnormal for this time of year? Quite possibly the case as none of the other reviews said as much). Our hotel room was a ‘3 room’ - in North America that means three bedrooms but that’s not how Europe sells their rooms. Three rooms means a kitchen and two TINY bedrooms (the bathroom doesn’t count for some reason? Inconsistency at its finest). My mother in law, son and daughter were in tiny single beds in one room and my husband and I were in a queen in the next room (separated by a paper thin wall). Add to this that there was only one AC unit for the whole suite and it was barely able to keep up. We didn’t think it was working when we arrived. |The kitchen was maybe 80sqft? No oven and they no longer supply BBQ’s after someone nearly set a room on fire with one. |Breakfast was mediocre. Cakes, donuts, Nutella, sugar, sugar, sugar. They had some hard boiled eggs, powdered eggs and sliced up hot dogs. I didn’t try the bacon as it wasn’t very appealing. There was a very disappointing selection of fruit. |I think this poor review stems from higher expectations based on a lot of great reviews for this place. It is a beautiful spot but we’ve simply realized this isn’t the kind of place we would ever come back to. We left two nights early and spent the money to go to a beautiful airbnb in Soverato. Worth leaving the money behind unfortunately.

From the first moment you arrive at Blu Tropical you know you have made a great choice! This hotel is beautifully and tastefully decorated and furnished with high quality fixtures and fittings, built on an amazing elevated location with sweeping panoramic sea views. The room was extremely clean and quiet, comfortable and serviced daily. The breakfast is an absolutely delightful experience, fresh fruit and pastries which change each day, eggs, cold meat and cheese and of course excellent Italian coffee. The staff are helpful, friendly and professional. I want to mention Ilenia who worked at the front desk and helped us with arrangements before our arrival and throughout our stay. The beach area is perfectly maintained and has a swimming pool, restaurant and bar area and a little mini club for the children. The water is clear, calm and clean. I wish to thank Blu Tropical management and staff for providing us with one of the best holidays ever and we look forward to returning again! Ciao.

Beautiful little seaside hotel! We stayed here for four nights with our two year old and it is perfect. The residences are equipped with a basic kitchen, and have lovely outdoor seating. The residence rooms are also very close to the pool and beach, with parking nearby.||The beach is just lovely. Lots of waves so not always equipped for swimming, but very relaxing and well maintained.||The pool is nice and there is lots of seating. The snack bar on the beach is lovely too. Sandwiches for 4-5 euro.

You must visit Blu Tropical! ||The hotel is beautiful, clean and facilities the best in Calabria. ||My family stayed here for two weeks in August and are already planning our next visit. ||||Our apartment : ||We stayed in a two room apartment that has everything you need, including a great patio area for outdoor dining. The apartment was cleaned every day and fresh towels given. Air con in the apartment was brilliant and very welcomed after a boiling day by the sea. ||||Swimming pool : ||||The swimming pool is stunning! Set amongst green trees and palm plants. Beautifully clean and great for the family. A shallow end for my son to swim in too! Aqua fit in the morning was excellent. ||Just a note to say, you have to wear a swim cap - €5 at the bar.||||The beach:||Wow! The best I’ve ever seen in Calabria!||Clear blue water and spotless. We had a front row Umbrella and beach seat which was ideal. Most days we could see the incredible Stromboli volcano in the distance. Never too busy and always plenty of seats and space for all. ||||Food:||The food at this hotel is delicious! I’m a real foody and enjoyed the variety and traditional Italian cuisine. Each morning we would chose our 3 course meal for the evening and there was always plenty on offer from meat, fish, pasta and salads. The beach bar is excellent too serving pizza, aranchini and much more. ||Breakfast was lovely, hot eggs and bacon along with a huge choice of cakes, cold meats and cheese.||||Staff:||The staff at this hotel are incredible! They made our stay wonderful.||Katarina, the hotel owner is wonderful, kind and works incredibly hard. She went above and beyond to ensure we were all okay and made ‘special pasta with tomatoe sauce for my 5 year old.’ ||Giovanna at the bar is lovely, knew us by name and makes incredible cocktails. Her kindness and smile made our stay wonderful! Always greeting us and quick to chat to my son. ||Valentina the hotel activity lady was incredible. Spoke to everyone and a real talent! ||||We can’t wait to go back and experience what Blu tropical do so well all over again.||If you are looking for a stunning location and a calm holiday this place is for you!

NO PET FRIENDLY / BIG CHARGES|We booked a pet friendly hotel on and it was written that there are 12 rooms in the hotel situated on 2 floors. The animal service was to be free of charge and the payment for the animal was to be 10 eur for day. During check out they informed us that we are to pay 120 eur for a dog because those 12 rooms in the hotel are not pet friendly and that 350 m from the hotel there is „camping” beach residence which is pet friendly. So the hotel is not pet friendly at all. We were told also at the reception desk that their beach is not pet friendly too. We have well trained small dog - not noisy or else and we were told that other guests claimed for our dog. The dog was with us 24/7 and was so quiet that the children in the restaurant and on the beach were much more visible than a small chihuahua. |We spent 4,5 hour at the reception lobby trying to solve a situation but without result. At last we paid 70 eur for animal insted of written 20 eur. There was a lot of stress not worth it. We were offered a plastic bottled water after 3 hours of staying in not air conditioned lobby with extreme high temperatures in Zambrone Region. ||BEACH|The hotel is divided into 2 places: hotel is upper (350 m from the beach), beach, pool, restaurant is near the beach. This is not a real beach hotel as you need to walk along public road. |We haven’t received any beach towels on the beach eventhough we paid for that as „club charge”. We were to be given 3rd row from the see eventhough 1st and 2nd were free.|The lifeguard / umbrella boy was sitting on the sunchair using telephone the whole day instead of cleaning beach or taking some swimming waste from the sea. Not interested in bis work at all. ||ROOM |Comfortable / I would give 3 stars maximum for the standard. They asked us not to use iron in the room because there is electricity problem. Good air condition. There was no tea or coffe corner / maker room. Just 2 plastic glass for plastic water. No real glass in the room. ||BEAKFAST |If you are on high sugar diet you will have a great selection of cakes, crosaints, etc. If you are carnivore or low carb eater there is poor selection of cheese, ham, eggs. The salt was artifical, no sea salt available. A lot of plastic, water in plastic bottles (extremely toxic in high temperatures), oil of olives in plastic. Served till 9:30 - 9:45 all closed.||LUNCH|water in glass was available. Good food but they tried to double our bill. We ordered 1 octopus, there were 2, etc. Check your bills. ||PARKING |No parking place 1st day so we parked in Oasi Park Resort. ||CHECK IN / CHECK OUT HOURS |16:00-9:30 / 17.5 h instead of 22 h||To sum up - I do not recommend you this hotel.
